Here are the picks for the best Marvel Comics of the week of October 9th, 2019 as picked by the Weird Science Marvel Comics staff.
Powers of X #6
Writer: Jonathan Hickman
Art: R.B. Silva, Marte Garcia, VC’s Clayton Cowles, and Tom Muller
Price: $5.99
Release Date: October 9th, 2019
Powers of X ends as Jonathan Hickman wraps up this massive relaunch of the X titles. In it, we find that while Charles and Eric seem to be leading the mutants, it’s actually Moira that has been pulling the strings the whole time. While admittedly confusing at times, this is a very satisfying ending and a perfect lead into the X-Men monthly title.

The Amazing Spider-Man #31
Writer: Nick Spencer
Artist: Ryan Ottley
Colors: Nathan Fairbairn
Letterer: VC’s Joe Caramagna
Price: $3.99
Release date October 9, 2019
In a series that many people have been fairly frustrated with, who would have thought that that the best two issues of ASM in the last several months would be tie-ins to Absolute Carnage? Not me, but it’s true! Nick Spencer not only ties into the event but also continues his own story by diving into the past and exploring the depth of the relationship between Peter and Norman.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #11
Writer: Saladin Ahmed
Artists: Ze Carlos and Ig Guara
Colorists: Dono Sanchez-Almara with Protobunker
Letterer: VC’s Cory Petit
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 9, 2019
In this issue, we get what every Spider-Man fan wants. Spidey kicking butt! Don’t let the quick read fool you though, there’s a lot going on. Plus we get one heck of a cliffhanger!
I don’t have the most knowledge of Miles or the Ultimate Universe but that’s ok. Do what I do. Read @waltgaor93’s reviews! They’re great. Check out the full review here.

Doctor Doom #1
Writer: Christopher Cantwell
Art: Salvador Larroca, GURU-eFX, VC’s Cory Petit, and Aco
Price: $4.99
Release Date: October 9th, 2019
Doom has done great good, but just as much bad in the history of the Marvel Universe. In this debut issue, Doom has been set up. So we’ve got not only a “who done it” but we’re left wondering if Doom has any allies that will help him. Throw in some visions of Doom and his perhaps thoughts of what a perfect life would be, and we’ve got a rather unique new ongoing series.
