Krakoa’s “Land of Misfit Toys” was sent to close down Sinister’s old cloning stomping grounds. However, they hit a bit of resistance from Madelyne Pryor, otherwise known as the Goblin Queen. Now, after the Queen of the Damned has an awkwardly heartfelt reunion with Havok, he appears to be the only one left standing. Let’s dive into HELLIONS #4 by Zeb Wells to see if Havok has what it takes to get over this renewed crush or if this new X-group was never meant to last.

Well HELLIONS fans, this first arc wraps up with a bang, and many questions are left on the table for this team moving forward. That said, at least the glaring answers are revealed and a “possible” new direction may be on the horizon involving Mister Sinister, the Marauders, and even the Goblin Queen. Furthermore, the irony of Wells’ series is that for a team of lunatics, HELLIONS appears to have the most emotion and raw sentiment of any current X-MEN title on the market. Isn’t that crazy to think about?

Additionally, the story won’t end how you expect it to while the high paced action continues to leave readers feeling like they’re in some type of blockbuster action/ horror flick. Before the issue is said and done, Sinister even drops a few humorous nuggets into the story along with a touching, yet creepy, moment from Nanny. Ultimately, readers will pick up HELLIONS #4 and be completely trapped within the story until the end. What more could an X-MEN fan surrounded by daily bad news, a pandemic, mask controversy, looming unemployment, and rioting ask for? An escape… Well, Zeb Wells provides you with just that this week!

FINAL THOUGHTS

Wells continues to find a way to take this band of rejects and makes them highly enjoyable. Zeb Wells continues to show off his expertise and creative juices as characters that should never work together and filled with such baggage somehow seamlessly gel together after only four issues. Moreover, his story is clear, direct, fast, and filled with relentless action. Plus, whether you completely know the backstory for each character or not, Wells still sets up the narrative to be easy for anyone to enjoy. This reviewer is thoroughly excited to see what this team has in store next, especially from Sinister, Pryor, the Legacy Marauders, and even the Quiet Council. Pick up this issue and add HELLIONS to your pull list. It’s still not too late to get all four issues and hop on board this crazy train before it leaves the station!
