Well, after a long hiatus, this book is finally back! With Empyre coming to an end, time to get back to Marvel’s other event, “Outlawed.” Hopefully, this doesn’t stop the Ultimatum story, especially with how many unanswered questions remain. Let’s dive in and see what we have here…

We start our issue with Miles and his parents having an evening they won’t soon forget. First, we have Miles fighting… Spider-Man?!? I have said this before, I love great action scenes in comics! The artwork elevates the scene, especially the part where Miles uses his Venom Blasts. It looks awesome! The problem for Miles, though, is they are not that effective. Unfortunately for Miles, it all ends with him being knocked out cold by the end. This opening scene shows why I love this book, and it’s become my go-to Spider-Man title, even over Amazing!

While Miles is not having a great night, his parents aren’t either. They get attacked, and while his dad at least can sense a bit of danger coming their way, it still sucks. The attention to detail in the art is excellent, and it adds to the “oh sh**” moment going down. The only letdown to most of what is going on in this issue is wondering whether it is more an Outlawed issue or an Ultimatum one when it comes to the significant threats.

If you aren’t here for the Outlawed story, you at least won’t be bogged down with it. There are only a couple of strictly Outlawed pages, and for me, that’s a good thing. It all feels like it was added in after the fact to tie into the new Champions book. It still looked great, and Ahmed’s dialogue is top-notch, so I won’t complain too much.

Final Thoughts:

I thoroughly enjoyed this issue of Miles Morales! While the Outlawed parts felt forced, I am still looking forward to the next issue. This book has excellent art, dialogue, and plenty of cool action scenes to keep the reader’s attention. I highly recommend picking this up and adding it to your pull list.
