Excited or not, Dan Slott’s run on IRON MAN will be coming to a close by the end of the Summer.

On Twitter, Slott confirmed that his last issue of IRON MAN will be IRON MAN 2020 #6 which he is co-writing with Christos Gage. For those that haven’t been following along, Slott has been writing Iron Man since 2018, which sought to bring back Tony Stark from the dead. During his run on TONY STARK: IRON MAN, Slott has not only brought Tony back from the dead, pulled Tony’s brother Arno Stark back into the fold, but has also dived deeper into Tony dealing with the struggles of discovering that he’s some type of Artificial Intelligence.

Essentially, throughout Slott’s run, he’s been tackling the same related questions that would arise with cloning, playing God, and whether or not something man-made would have a soul… just in the realm of Robots, machines, and Artificial Intelligence. The debate is REAL people!

Now, regardless of what some may think, Slott isn’t being fired nor is he being asked to step aside from the character. According to Slott, this was always the end he envisioned for his run, which will mark 25 issues of him writing the character. Currently, on Amazon, IRON MAN 2020 #4 and #5 are scheduled to be released Wednesday, May 13th with IRON MAN 2020 #6 scheduled to be released on Wednesday, June 24th. However, as we have seen online, the dates continue to be pushed back and modified nor do I expect issues 4 and 5 to be released the same week. It remains to be seen when Marvel will be releasing new issues. However, we will have to stay tuned to see when issue 6 will be released and wrapping up Dan Slott’s Iron Man run.
