Ghost Rider is back…sort of. Ghost Rider’s last series fizzled out. It was a casualty of the pandemic, and it ended rather abruptly with a lot of plot threads hanging. I came into this issue with hopes of getting some closure on some of those plot threads. I even thought at one point I thought this one-shot was written by Ed Brisson. I was mistaken on all accounts. After reading the comic the title makes more sense since it does say the return of Vengeance, but if you didn’t know Vengeance was an actual character you could possibly think this was just another Ghost Rider title. I don’t know maybe I’m just dumb.

Instead we get a comic about another Ghost Rider I have never heard before. Escaping from one of the torture pits of Hell. Being aided by another demon of Hell I have never heard of before. All while this Ghost Rider is screaming for Vengeance from another acolyte of Myphisto, that I have never heard of before, that is also trapped in the torture pit with Ghost Rider Badilino and it all makes me not care for anything in this issue.

Final Thoughts:

I understand that lovers of the early 90’s run of Ghost Rider may find more value in this one-shot, and maybe if I didn’t have so many unanswered questions floating around in my head from last series I would have been more open to some more questions and characters. But honestly I can find no value in brining back the Ghost Rider known as Vengeance when Cosmic Ghost Rider seems way cooler, but is pretty much the same character.

5/10
