Weird Science Marvel Comics Best Cover of the Week of September 18th, 2019

Read on to see the picks for best cover of the week by the Weird Science Marvel Comics staff.

Savage Sword of Conan #9

Writer: Jim Zub

Cover Art: Marco Checchetto

Don’t let a cover that’s very similar to Return of the Jedi fool you. This may be a monster in a pit but that’s where the similarities end. This is not an elegant weapon or a civilized age. Instead, we get the ferocity and savagery of Conan as he tries to survive the pit drawn by the always fabulous Marco Checchetto.

Do yourself a favor and check out this great series. It’s newer reader-friendly too! Check out the full review for issue #9 here.

Absolute Carnage #3

Writer: Donny Cates

Cover Art: Ryan Stegman

The event of the year continues on with issue three of Absolute Carnage. Ryan Stegman’s Art seems to improve with each issue. Here we see an oversized Carnage with the heroes that have attached to the Symbiote. Instead of retrieving their codexes, he’s retrieving their bodies. It works extremely well and does what a cover should. It uses the shock value to get you to look!

This is a very good event with tie-ins that actually matter. Check it out!!

History of the Marvel Universe #3

Writer: Mark Waid

Cover Art: Javier Rodríguez

As someone who is reading Marvel comics, or attempting to read them chronologically from the 60’s onward, this variant cover is very familiar to me. Rodríguez captures 60’s Marvel art perfectly.

This series is perfect for new or old Marvel fans! Check out the full review of issue 3 here.
