when the time-displaced X-men went back into the past, Jean was able to wipe their memories of their time in the future but time it so that their present selves would regain their memories just after the younger team departed. Grown Cyclops already helped his former Champion teammates in War of Realms and with Dust being a Champion & X-Men, to me it makes a lot of sense that Scott & Dust would help the Champions

Before I comment briefly on Mystique # 3-ness, I wanted to thank you. My father died in September of 2023 after fighting Parkinson’s for several years. I got the call at work, in a public charter school, where it is difficult to show vulnerability in front of students because kids either get uncomfortable or they get mean when they see adults cry. Compassion is a rare diamond. Anyway, I left and had to drive from Indianapolis to the SW corner of Missouri, about half an hour north of the Arkansas border, in order to support my mother and sister. On the way there, I listened to Weird Science and Weird Science Dose of X, wanting familiar, friendly voices to distract me from the tumultuous emotions going through me.
You delivered. Thank you so much. Appreciate you.
Ahem! Now then, in re: Fabian Cortez’s magnification powers in Mystique. This is not a new twist for that character and harkens back to his earliest Claremont and Lee appearances when the Acolytes are pursued to Asteroid M by a SHIELD hit squad. Cortez apparently coaxes latent mutations out of them with his powers as SHIELD Agent Delgado and some of the others end up AS Acolytes [The X-Men apparently didn’t know the score with regards to Cortez’s powers since they did not hold back in combat and most of those characters died with no remorse by the end of X-Men # 3]. Never been a huge fan of the character or any ginger pony tail wearers, really–that’s so 1990s–so haven’t really noticed if Cortez’s mutation between then and now has ever come up again.
Be safe in your travels, stay warm, and Make Mine Marvel!

Sorry for your loss. the part where you said that compassion is a rare diamond made me get a bit upset myself – it is a sad thing that that is so true! – Jim

I’m sorry for your loss, but thank you so much for your comment. It really hit home and means a lot to me. I’m a fellow listener of the Weird Science podcasts and they have helped get me through some dark times over the last few years. I’m lucky to have got to know Jim and the crew. These are a great bunch of people and I’m blessed to call them friends. And then I read your comment by chance and it makes my day. A diamond in the rough! Thank you.
