When we last left our X-FORCE team, Beast sent in a reconnaissance team of Wolverine, Kid Omega, and Domino to Terra Verde after their Telefloronics somehow took control of the population. Plant creatures, human-plant hybrid beings, and overgrown vegetation encompassed the entire nation trapping the X-Force recon team in some sort of ancient pyramid. How did this happen? What changed in the months between issues that could possibly cause this Krakoan-like transformation? Let’s jump into X-FORCE #10 by Ben Percy and find out!

Percy’s plot this week was extremely informative and rather intriguing. Mixed with Tom Muller’s narrative/ composition pages, Percy and Muller mind-melted to tell an outstanding story. Truly I tell you, I’m not the biggest fan of the composition pages in these X-books. However, this week, they were incredibly informative and assisted in keeping the action and suspense flowing splendidly. X-FORCE #10 is a perfect example of how to utilize the informative pages strategically sprinkled sparingly throughout the narrative that add an enlightening layer to an overly graphic, action-packed issue.

Readers, you’ll get answers this week. Before all is said and done, you will know how this happened to Terre Verde and why. Nonetheless, many X-Men fans may not like the direction Percy appears to be taking, as well as which characters appear to be blurring the lines of right and wrong. I myself loved the path this issue took and can’t wait to see where the rest of the journey takes me. Plus, Percy used this week’s installment to flush out a bit more involving Domino, a newly fractured relationship, and one that may be brewing behind the scenes in a hot tub. Nevertheless, the only thing lacking this week was Black Tom Cassidy! I merely expected more is all. Either way, this issue came out guns a-blazin’ and this reviewer suspects you’ll leave re-energized throughout these next Summer Months as preparation towards X OF SWORDS.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This week’s X-FORCE #10 came with all the fixings: intensity, action, tension, conspiracy, speculation, graphically violent illustrations, and thoroughly detailed art from Joshua Cassara. Together with Percy and the rest of his team, X-FORCE #10 continues to be one of the best X-books, if not one of the top books at Marvel Comics right now. To anyone starving for good stories, especially after the COVID-19 Comic Hiatus, grab X-FORCE #10 and put this series on your pull list. The story was detailed, fast-paced, and actually gave legitimate answers while toying with future plot endeavors that could inspire some downright interesting tales to come. I highly recommend this issue, as well as this series, to all comic fans. Pick it up and let me know what you think!
