Feels like this book was picked up its paced recently! Finally some serious crap is going down and full steam ahead for action town. This Uncanny run went from being awful to being great after issue 10 then after a few issues being eh okay. I am really hoping that the end of this run will make up for the terrible issues. Hopefully they treat this like a Suicide Squadish type book and until the end of the run just have fun and do some wacky surprises. With finding out that Emma Frost has been pulling all the strings and who is in her corner, is it too much for the X-Men to stop? Let’s dig in and see what we have here…
We start this issue in what seems to be a doctor’s office and someone is giving someone a shot. In the last issue there was some talk about the cure vaccine that was brought up in the first part of the Uncanny run and guess we see it in full effect…? Maybe not as some things go out of wack. No clue what really is happening but I have no idea, this one cold open caught my attention! Something this book does rarely.
But let’s take a few steps back and see what the team has been up to. As the team discovers a few dead mutants and even who killed them. I will admit, my knowledge on a lot of past X-Men isn’t a lot and a lot of these names I have no idea who they are. And thus makes this issue an official Uncanny issue because a fight begins with other mutants. Something that I feel this book does quite so often. But my issue isn’t with that, my issue is that I wish we got to see these new character’s powers. Rosenberg has to realize that quite a bit of the readers are new to the X-Men history and some of these characters who we haven’t heard in the movies before, we have no knowledge on them whatsoever.
Afterwards the team meets back up with Dark Beast who has news regarding the cure and the they all decide to fix the problem by spreading an anti-cure out in the world. And we soon realize what the cold opener in the issue meant as some things containing the anti-cure, wasn’t what we all thought would happen. As the team learns the truth from Captain America, as well as learning more truths like they have been stooped due to fact Scott actually hasn’t been working with Steve Rogers this whole time. As Magik gets everyone and heads home as their world will soon be turn around!
Feels like it has been quite a while since truly enjoyed this book! For a while it has only been the art that got my interested in this book, this issue got hooked right from first page. Not much action happens but a lot does happen and can’t wait for next issue when it hits the fans! The team has got smaller which is great! Helped the book in a way, too big of a team especially majority of them no clue who they were and the book didn’t do anything to get me interested in them.
