I have been up and down with this series so far and while I really like the way Saladin Ahmed writes Miles, the actual stories he is in haven’t been great. However, after last issue’s cool Miles Morales Day Off one-shot, I was looking forward to this issue. Was it any good? Let’s find out…

The issue opens with Miles getting some disgusting food to keep it real and Ganke dropping a bombshell…Miles is going to run out of web fluid soon if they don’t figure something out. I mean, that is huge and while it seems like it’s a setup for things to go wrong this issue, we’ll have to wait to see how it all plays out down the road.

The reason we have to wait seems to be because of some gang banging going down and I like seeing Miles stepping up to save his hood, but there isn’t that much more going on in the issue. Tombstone and his crew are heading into Brooklyn and the local gangs are mad…rinse and repeat. The action looks great thanks to Javi Garron, but there isn’t much else to get that excited about on that front.

We do get a quick bit with Barbara wanting Miles to come clean with her about everything and another quick bit with Ganke and the web fluid problem, but other than a really nice moment with his dad, Miles is just running back and forth between gang fights.

The final fight does lead to a cool cliffhanger and after everything is said and done, I can’t wait for the next issue! Again, Ahmed writes a really good Miles and this new development might be just what this book needs to get everything going forward.

I mentioned it already, but this book looks great. Javier Garron’s character models are a highlight and David Curiel’s colors really pop. I read it digitally and it looks so good on my Ipad.

Final Thoughts:

Saladin Ahmed continues to write a really good Miles…I just wish there was more for him to do. These first bunch of issues seems to be setting up a much bigger story, but I just want to get to it quicker. That said, the cliffhanger has me so excited to see more!
