Ultimate X-Men #15, by Marvel on 5/14/25, teams up Futaka with Tatsuya on the eve of a possible raid by the X-Men on the Children of the Atom’s cult facility.
Is Ultimate X-Men #15 Good?
Recap
When we last left the collection of new mutants inside Hisako’s mind in Ultimate X-Men #14, the battle raged on between the older and better-trained group of mutants against a mind-controlled Hisako, the Shadow King, and Maester. In the real world, the search for Hisako and Natsu took several strange turns. The issue ended with a Rogue-looking character entering a cafe to meet Kanon’s brother, Tatsuya.

Plot Synopsis
In Ultimate X-Men #15, the conspirators make plans… sort of. The Rogue-like figure sits for a quiet meeting with Kanon’s brother, Tatsuya, to divulge what she’s learned about the Children of the Atom cult. Her name is Futaka, and she has information about the cult fed to her by a mole. The mole happens to be Nico, who joined the cult under the name of Girmm to find out what they’re up to.
Futaka divulges that Kanon may be mixed up in what’s happening, much to her brother’s surprise. All signs point to a raid on the cult by the X-Men, and Futaka believes they should take advantage of the opportunity. Meanwhile, Nico/Grimm entertains the children of the cult with her magic abilities. Secretly, she sneaks around the facility to find out what’s happening. Meanwhile, Maester and Viper observe Shadow King inside a containment room. They believe he’ll behave as long as they have Hisako, but they need to find a way to wake her up.
Unknown to Maester and Viper, Shadow King sends out a telepathic message that he needs to kill Akihiro. Somehow, the message reaches Mori. The issue ends with Tatsuya agreeing to help Futaka.

First Impressions
“Huh? What’s happening? Who is that person? How did they get in there?” These are just a sampling of the questions you might ask yourself if you’ve read this issue, even if you’ve been keeping up with the series since day one. Ultimate X-Men continues to be a slice-of-life comic that keeps going between issues without telling you what happened while you were away.
How’s the Art?
The art is the art. Peach Momoko’s kid-friendly, Shojo-themed manga art looks and feels about right for a group of adolescent girls on a whimsical path. There’s no action to speak of in this issue, so all the weight rests on Momoko’s ability to convey gripping drama through the art. Does she succeed? Not entirely.
What’s great about Ultimate X-Men #15?
In a vague, meandering sort of way, Peach Momoko moves toward some future destination by implying there will be a clash between the X-Men and the Children of the Atom at some point. Given the narrative structure of this series, we may or may not see that clash, but at least it’s happening.

What’s not great about Ultimate X-Men #15?
If you’ve picked up one of the earlier issues and didn’t like it, this issue won’t change your mind. Peach Momoko leans too much into slice-of-life meanderings to keep the plot focused and engaging. Further, the likelihood that this title will have anything to do with the Maker’s return in a few months grows unlikely with each passing issue, leaving one to wonder what was the point.

Final Thoughts
Ultimate X-Men #15 vaguely loosely moves the plot forward toward what could be a clash between the X-Men and the Children of the Atom. Peach Momoko’s meandering script leaves out the important developments between issues for a generally unsatisfying snapshot of a story you never fully get.
