Blade #6 sends Eric on a walk on the Dark Side when his defeat at Adana’s hands leads him to find help from the only person who understands his true potential – Dracula.
Is Blade #6 Good?
Ehh, Blade #6 is just okay. Bryan Hill’s bizarre time jump in issue #5 showed that Blade is facing a foe well beyond his ability to handle, so meeting with Dracula for career training introduced the possibility of high drama, but whatever you expected out of the meeting, it’s not as dramatic as you thought.

When last we left Blade, his first failed attack on Adana led him to try a second time when he found Tulip possessed by a demon due to Adana’s new sway over the world. Blade was defeated more easily the second time, so he had no choice but to seek Dracula’s help to make him stronger. Now, Dracula laments Blade’s misunderstanding of evil, puts Blade through a test of his limits, and ultimately makes Blade drink his blood to unlock more power. And that’s it.
If you were hoping for a fight or a heady debate that brought the eternal enemies to become temporary allies, you don’t get it. If you were hoping for some life-altering change in Blade that would cause him to level up, you sorta get it. If you were hoping for a rousing, memorable issue, you don’t get it.
What’s great about Blade #6? Any visit with Dracula is positive, and Hill gives readers a new angle to chew on when Dracula presents thought-provoking ideas about his perspective on evil. In fairness, Blade does get a level-up, so the possibility of exploring what he can do is intriguing.

What’s not so great about Blade #6? In terms of drama, memorable moments, energy, and wow factor, the issue falls flat. This should be a big moment for Blade to ask for help from his most hated enemy, but his time with Dracula has all the tension of a business meeting.
How’s the art? It’s fine. Lee Ferguson chooses a good look for Dracula, the Count’s OG armor gets a cameo, and the brief bits of swordplay are energetic. I have no complaints about the art.

Bits and Pieces
Blade #6 gives readers what should be a cataclysmic meeting between two enemies but delivers an issue devoid of dramatic tension or wow moments. Blade does what he sets out to do, and Hill does give Blade a level-up, but the overall issue falls flat.
